The Social Media Specialist will work with West Toronto Junction Historical Society (WTJHS) leadership and with others on the social media volunteer team to:
- prepare and post official items (e.g., WTJHS event notices) to WTJHS social media channels;
- post content/images provided by other WTJHS members and volunteers and share relevant local history posts from other social media pages;
- engage with social media followers, monitor and respond as appropriate to visitor comments and questions; and
- address technical issues and propose improvements to the WTJHS social media presence.
Skills: Familiarity with and enthusiasm for social media. Ability to write clear and intriguing short posts. Ability toselect and manipulate images in posts.
Location: Preference for an individual living in or near West Toronto Junction in order to build on familiarity with the area and encourage participation in WTJHS events.
Nice to have (but can be picked up over time): Familiarity with the history of West Toronto Junction and Toronto.
Expectations
Minimum one year commitment. Home computer and internet access. This role can be carried out at home but in-person involvement in WTJHS events is encouraged to expand the level of engagement between WTJHS and our social media followers.
