Volunteer Opportunities

The West TO Junction Historical Society (WTJHS) is a volunteer organization of local history enthusiasts with an office located in the Annette Street public library. The purpose of the society is to bring together those interested in the historical heritage of West Toronto to  research, preserve and talk about Toronto Junction history.

At the WTJHS Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday May 7, 2026, the members will elect a new Board of Directors. Many of the current directors have agreed to continue serving on the board. 

We are looking for volunteers to fill the following vacant positions. Descriptions of responsibilities for each position follow.

OTHER VOLUNTEER ROLES

The WTJHS is looking for volunteers to fill the following vital roles. Detailed descriptions of responsibilities for these positions follow.

Bookkeeper

Social Media Specialist

Volunteer Coordinator

In addition to the above, volunteers are needed for occasional support, as listed below.

  1. Social Media Specialist – Responsible for occasional support for making social media posts to be posted by Web Coordinator.
  2. Event/Display Helpers – Help organize and deliver public events and displays for members to staff in public places. 
  3. Helpers for WTJHS booth at Farmers Markets – Help with setup and operation of booth including public interaction. 
  4. Volunteers for local delivery of three issues per year of the Leader & Recorder – receive or pick up packages and deliver within about one week. 
  5. Members, Leader & Recorder Editorial Group – Help plan the contents and look for authors; may research and contribute articles if they wish. 
  6. Meet and Greet Volunteers at public meetings and events – Welcome attendees, track attendance, and invite their participation. 
  7. Walking Tour Helpers – Help plan and organize walking tours in the neighbourhood; assist in running one or two tours per year. 
  8. ‘They Walked These Streets’ helpers – help set up and take down displays each November, and support community engagement. 
  9. Help publicize WTJHS events – Help arrange advance publicity about WTJHS events in conjunction with the social media team.
