Chruchill and KingTerry Reardon, author of: Winston Churchill and Mackenzie King: So Similar, So Different is our speaker Born just two weeks apart in 1874, Winston Churchill and William Lyon Mackenzie King had much in common. Both forged long parliamentary careers, and each led his country to victory in World War II.  The Globe and Mail included the book in the “Twelve Very Best Books on Winston Churchill.”  Terry will speaking about the part played by Canada in WW II with anecdotes both dramatic and humourous.

Saturday September 20th, 2014 assembling at the Rousseaux Site, by the Humber, 9:00 A.M., departing 9:30 (parking area south of 8 South Kingsway, Petro Canada Station).

Ending at the Governor’s 1793 camp site at Eglinton and the Humber River.

Colin Heath, Past President of the Simcoe Branch of the United Empire Loyalists, is the Governor with historical commentary by guide Madeleine McDowell.

No charge.

7-0507Our speaker will be Donna Bernardo-Ceriz, Assistant Archivist, Ontario Jewish Archives, UJA Federation of Greater Toronto.  The OJA has launched a brand new website, which contains a wealth of publicly accessible information on Jewish heritage in Toronto, including in and around the Junction area, in particular “the hidden gem of the Junction,” Congregation Knesseth Israel [the Junction Shul], the oldest purpose-built synagogue in Ontario.

Mandatory community consultation for the proposed mid-rise development at the corner of Pacific & Dundas (2978 Dundas Street West) has been scheduled on Tuesday, August 19th at 7 pm in the West Toronto Baptist Church (3049 Dundas Street West).

Please come out to voice objection to this radical and irreversible change to the Dundas streetscape.
