CEF_E20Our Remembrance Night.   Our speaker Ron Atkins is a member of the recreated 20th Battalion C.E.F. which honours the sacrifice made by Canadians during the Great War, by learning and living proper drill, procedures and deportment, thus presenting an accurate “snapshot” of the Canadian Infantry of this period.  The topic: “How W.W.I affected Toronto.”

WTJHS Fundraiser to Occur Later in the Year

Past Event: Our October Meeting

Chruchill and KingTerry Reardon, author of: Winston Churchill and Mackenzie King: So Similar, So Different is our speaker Born just two weeks apart in 1874, Winston Churchill and William Lyon Mackenzie King had much in common. Both forged long parliamentary careers, and each led his country to victory in World War II.  The Globe and Mail included the book in the “Twelve Very Best Books on Winston Churchill.”  Terry will speaking about the part played by Canada in WW II with anecdotes both dramatic and humourous.

Past Event: Humber Heritage Committee Historical Walk

simcoeJoin Lieutenant Governor John Graves Simcoe, in reenacting the first day of his 1793 journey up the Toronto Carrying Place.

Saturday September 20th, 2014 assembling at the Rousseaux Site, by the Humber, 9:00 A.M., departing 9:30 (parking area south of 8 South Kingsway, Petro Canada Station).

Ending at the Governor’s 1793 camp site at Eglinton and the Humber River.

Colin Heath, Past President of the Simcoe Branch of the United Empire Loyalists, is the Governor with historical commentary by guide Madeleine McDowell.
